Wheel Set Earthing Equipment

Wheel Set Earthing Equipment for LHB types coaches is essential equipment to prevent return current flow through the axle bearing and likely damages. Thus earthing contact system acts as a current bridge and creates a connection by means of wiper contact (brush) from the stationery bogie frame to rotating wheel set. This equipment is required for earthing of bogie of LHB type coaches with wheel diameter up to 920 mm and operational speed up to 160 Km/hr.

The complete outer housing is made through investment casting to which the tolerance is maintained in microns giving minimum scope of machining. Moreover, all the drilling and tapping spots are marked with buttons in the casting so no die is required in drilling and tapping to maintain the dimensions.
